HER PRIVATE HELL Trailer: Sophie Thatcher & Charles Melton Cross Paths in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Futuristic Thrillride
Ten years after shocking audiences with his polarizing The Neon Demon, with a pair of limited streaming series in between, Nicolas Winding Refn is about to make another jaw-dropping return this summer with his newest, neon-soaked feature thriller. Her Private Hell, which Refn co-wrote with Esti Giordani, takes us to a futuristic, nightmarish society where Sophie Thatcher’s movie star crosses paths with Charles Melton’s GI, while a killer known as “The Leather Man” stalks the streets. The film also stars Hava Rose Liu, Kristine Froseth, Diego Calva, Hidetoshi Nishijima, Dougray Scott, Aoi Yamada, and Shioli Kutsana.
It had its world premiere out of competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it once again divided audiences and critics alike, which is to be expected from a bold auteur like Refn. Magnus Nordenhof Jønck serves as cinematographer, with legendary composer Pino Donaggio penning the score and Refn reuniting with his usual editor Matthew Newman. Ahead of its theatrical release on July 24, Neon has unveiled the jaw-dropping, bloody new trailer.
As the official synopsis reads:
When a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity, a troubled young woman searches for her father. Her quest collides with an American GI on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from Hell.
