PAPER TIGER Teaser: Adam Driver & Miles Teller Are In Over Their Heads in James Gray’s New York Thriller

Adam Driver and Miles Teller in PAPER TIGER

After diving into his childhood in his 2022 coming-of-age drama Armageddon Time, writer-director James Gray isn’t done going back in time to his NYC roots. Having premiered at this year’s Cannes, his newest crime thriller Paper Tiger took critics and audiences by storm with a tragic tale of two brothers (Adam Driver and Miles Teller) in 1980s Brooklyn and Queens as they get involved in a Russian mafia scheme. Scarlett Johansson also stars as Teller’s wife, who gets caught in the crossfire along with their kids. Gray also reunites with his We Own the Night and Two Lovers cinematographer Joaquín Baca-Asay, who shot the film in vintage 35mm.

It will have its North American premiere next month as the Opening Night film of NYFF64, before arriving in theaters November 13. NEON has now unveiled a teaser trailer.

As the official synopsis reads:

In James Gray’s deeply felt and intense drama, two brothers become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true. As they try to navigate their way through the dangerous world of the Russian mafiya, family bonds begin to fray with life-altering consequences.
