CLUB KID Trailer: Jordan Firstman Is A Messy Dad in His Crowd-Pleasing Directorial Debut
One film that premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes this year got lots more buzz than most films in competition. Club Kid, the directorial debut of Jordan Firstman (I Love LA; Rotting in the Sun) may just be the feature debut of the year! Firstman, directing from his own script, stars as Peter, an underground party promoter whose lifestyle gets thrown for a loop when he receives an unexpected visit from the 10-year-old son he never knew he had, played by newcomer Reggie Absolom. It also stars Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Colleen Camp, Vicki Pepperdine, Nigil Whyte, Eldar Isgandarov, Saturn Risin9, Miss Benny, and Alaska Riley.
A24 picked it up at the Cannes Film Festival for an outstanding $17 million! Among the dynamic crew Firstman has collaborated with are cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra (The Invite; The Studio) and composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus). The film also hits home for HtN as our very own Jack Schenker worked on it as an assistant to Firstman himself. Following its upcoming fall festival stops at TIFF and NYFF, A24 will release the comedy in theaters on November 6.
