NEON Announces Free Screenings of ‘The Secret Agent’ for Sunday, March 8
To celebrate the success of the Oscar-nominated The Secret Agent, NEON has announced that it will be hosting free screenings in nationwide U.S. theaters for one day only on Sunday, March 8. Kleber Mendonça Filho’s political thriller is nominated for 4 Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Actor for Wagner Moura, Best International Feature, and Best Casting.
The film follows Marcelo (Moura), a technology expert in 1977 Brazil during the country’s military dictatorship, who goes on the run to Recife during Carnival season to reunite with his young son. It’s not long, though, before he realizes the city is far from the non-violent refuge he seeks.
The screenings are offered as a thank you to the fans, critics, programmers, and theaters that have contributed to the theatrical run and success of the film. They will be held in popular cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Miami, and more. See the full screening list and showtimes below.
