DOC NYC Announces 2022 Lineup

America’s largest documentary festival is coming back to New York!

DOC NYC has announced its lineup for its thirteenth edition. Over 200 films will screen from almost two dozen sections. Those films will also include yet-to-be-announced Oscar Short List titles. Also among the lineup are 29 world premieres and 27 U.S. premieres. The festival will run in person from November 9 through 17. The screening locations are IFC Center, SVA Theatre, and Cinépolis Chelsea. An online edition will continue through November 27.

The Opening Night film is Stephanie Johnes’ Maya and the Wave, which follows a world surfing champion and her experiences in the male-dominated sport. The Centerpiece films are Oscar-winner Barbara Kopple’s Gumbo Coalition and Dawn Porter’s Cirque du Soleil: Without a Net. The Closing Night film is Maxim Pozdorovkin’s The Conspiracy, an animated documentary that traces almost 250 years of insidious anti-Semitic ideology by following the fates of three Jewish family dynasties.

“We are proud to be presenting such an incredible array of outstanding work in this year’s Main Slate,” said the festival’s new artistic director Jaie Laplante. “These films, representing the diverse perspectives of our programming team, showcase significant premieres from major veterans alongside discoveries of emerging voices.”
