THE DEVILS Restoration Trailer: Ken Russell’s Shocking Director’s Cut Hits Theaters This October
One of the most shocking, sensational films of twentieth-century cinema has gotten the 4K restoration treatment. The first-ever release from Warner Bros’ new indie label Clockwork (with new films by Sean Baker, Mary Bronstein, and Park Chan-wook in progress) will be the restoration of Ken Russell’s 1971 historical psychological horror The Devils, a new uncut version with a rare NC-17 rating. Set in 17th-century France, it starred Vanessa Redgrave as a sexually repressed nun who accuses a priest (Oliver Reed) of witchcraft.
Following a premiere at this year’s Cannes, it will receive an exclusive one-week engagement release in North America on October 16, with select 35mm screenings. A jaw-dropping new trailer has now arrived.
