IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU Trailer: Rose Byrne is a Mom on the Edge in Mary Bronstein’s Festival Hit

Mom and therapist Linda is having one hell of a bad day in writer-director Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Produced by fellow masters of chaos Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, the film stars Rose Byrne as a Long Island psychotherapist struggling to take care of her ill daughter while dealing with a nightmarish plumbing problem, as well as navigating her relationships with her absent husband and unsympathetic therapist (Conan O’Brien). It also stars Danielle Macdonald, Christian Slater, and A$AP Rocky.
It had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, before going on to Berlinale, where Byrne won the Silver Bear for Best Lead Performance. It will also screen at TIFF and was just announced for the New York Film Festival as part of their Main Slate lineup. This marks former HtN contributor Bronstein’s second feature behind the camera, following her 2008 drama Yeast, which also starred Greta Gerwig and the Safdie Brothers.
A24 will release If I Had Legs I’d Kick You in theaters on October 10. The official trailer has just arrived to give you a glimpse of Byrne’s widely praised performance.
