WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN Trailer: Opposites Attract in Romantic Sci-Fi Comedy

WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN

One of the most promising indies of the year, With Love and a Major Organ, may be a movie to tug on your heartstrings this spring. Directed by Kim Albright with a script by Julia Lederer, it is a romantic sci-fi comedy set in an alternate world where self-care is manifested through suppressing emotion entirely. It stars Anna Maguire as a lonely, empathetic young woman who gives her heart to the more unemotional man she loves (Hamza Haq), putting their lives in new directions. Veena Sood, Donna Benedicto, and Arghavan Jenati also star. The Canadian-produced film had its world premiere at last year’s SXSW Film Festival before getting picked up by Circle Collective. Ahead of an opening at NYC’s Roxy Cinema on March 29 and LA’s American Cinematheque on April 5, the official trailer has arrived.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In a world where everyone’s heart is an object and there’s a strong societal pressure to dampen emotion, lonely Virtual Insurance broker Anabel (Anna Maguire, ViolationThe Hummingbird Project) always follows her heart. At odds with this overly pragmatic society, and after a series of devastating emotional blows, she rips her heart from her chest and gives it to a man she’s fallen for, the strangely unfeeling George (Hamza Haq, NBC’s Transplant). Unburdened by her unique yet cumbersome heart, Anabel finds life easier. George, on the other hand, begins to feel everything, to the shock of his overbearing mother, Mona. Anabel soon realizes she needs to get her heart back if she’s going to survive.
