PIAFFE Trailer: Foley Artistry Reaches Bizarre Heights In Ann Oren’s Debut

A woman’s sexual awakening manifests in peculiar ways in Piaffe. Directed by visual artist Ann Oren, in her feature debut, it follows an odd and introverted young woman (Simone Bucio) who grows a horse’s tail and develops a horse-like personality while foleying sound for a commercial about a horse-inspired drug. Oren co-wrote the film with Thais Guisaola, and co-stars Simon(e) Jaikiriuma Paetau and Sebastian Rudolph. It had its world premiere at the 2022 Locarno Film Festival and recently screened at the Fantasia Film Festival. Oscilloscope Laboratories is set to release it in New York on August 25th at The Quad Cinema and in Los Angeles on September 15th at Landmark’s Nuart Theatre. They have released the official U.S. trailer weeks ahead of its release.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Introverted and unqualified, Eva (Simone Bucio) is unexpectedly tasked with foleying the sound for a commercial featuring a horse. As she slowly acclimates to the new job, her obsession with creating the perfect equine sounds grows into something more tangible. Eva harnesses this new physicality, becoming more confident and empowered, and lures an unassuming botanist into an intriguing game of submission.
