DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM THE END OF THE WORLD Trailer: Radu Jude Explores Contemporary Image-Making in New Social Satire

Ilinca Manolache in Radu Jude's DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM THE END OF THE WORLD

One film that made an unexpected splash on the fall festival circuit, which made it one of the most anticipated films of the year, is Radu Jude’s Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World. His newest social satire, following his Golden Bear-winning Bad Luck Banging or Looney Porn, follows a day in the life of an overworked production assistant (Ilinca Manolache) driving around Bucharest on her latest gig: filming work accident victims auditioning to be in a safety equipment video for a German multinational corporation. Nina Hoss and cult filmmaker Uwe Boll also star in the Romanian Oscar entry. It had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival before making stops at TIFF and NYFF. MUBI has now released the official trailer for the radical new film ahead of its release in theaters March 22.

Here’s the official synopsis:

An overworked and underpaid production assistant must drive around the city of Bucharest to film the casting for a workplace safety video commissioned by a multinational company. When one of her interviewees makes a statement that ignites a scandal she is forced to re-invent the whole story.
