AZRAEL Trailer: Samara Weaving Tries To Survive a Mute, Post-Apocalyptic World

Samara Weaving in AZRAEL

After surviving a blood-soaked wedding in 2019’s Ready or Not, Samara Weaving now has to survive a merciless wilderness in Azrael. E.L. Katz (Cheap Thrills) directs the post-apocalyptic from a script by Simon Barrett (You’re Next; The Guest) which took home Audience Awards at this year’s SXSW and the Overlook Film Festival. Weaving stars as the titular character who tries to escape a sacrificial fate, only to have to make it through the forest where evil takes root. The film also stars Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Vic Carmen Sonne, Katariina Unt, and Sebastian Bull Sarning. Ahead of its release in theaters next month, an official trailer has arrived courtesy of IFC Films and Shudder.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In a world in which no one speaks, a mysterious, devout community hunts down a young woman named Azrael (Samara Weaving) who has escaped their imprisonment. Recaptured by its ruthless leaders, she is to be sacrificed to pacify an evil which resides deep within the surrounding wilderness – but Azrael will stop at nothing to ensure her own freedom and survival. From the seeds of this gritty, relentless parable of sacrifice and salvation, comes an immersive, real-time, action horror tale from the visionary minds of Simon Barrett and E.L. Katz.

Azrael opens in theaters September 27. Check out the trailer below.
