Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould (Lorber Films) — As a longtime fan of Glenn Gould who previously only knew him through his music and the pretty much universal description of him as “a raging eccentric,” this intimate documentary portrait proves quite enlightening. Especially with regards to Gould’s early years, when, as a virtuosic teenager, he exuded the charisma and charm of James Dean or Marlon Brando. While he was indeed more strange than normal throughout his life—how could anyone that insanely talented not be—his later years found him crawling further into his shell. At two hours, Genius Within starts to feel a tad long, but, ultimately, it gives viewers a much more three-dimensional perspective on Glenn Gould the man as opposed to “Glenn Gould the genius.” Buy it on DVD or Blu-ray.

Out of Sight (Universal Studios) — This is one of my personal Steven Soderbergh favorites, featuring a hee-larious performance by Don Cheadle. Buy it on Blu-ray.
Have Not Seen But Really/Sorta/Maybe Wanna
127 Hours (Fox Searchlight) — I really should have seen this by now, but things happen, ya know? Buy it on DVD or Blu-ray.
Love & Other Drugs (20th Century Fox) — There’s a reason why I haven’t seen this one yet, but it does seem like I should eventually take it for a spin. Buy it on DVD or Blu-ray.
