MOTHER MARY Trailer: Anne Hathaway & Michaela Coel Play a Wicked Game in David Lowery’s Glamorous Thriller

Anne Hathaway & Michaela Coel in David Lowey's MOTHER MARY

Following his haunting, mythical, and magnificent epic The Green Knight, former HtN contributor David Lowery has another enchanting nailbiter up his sleeve for us this coming spring. Mother Mary, which he wrote and directed, is a surreal thriller set in today’s world of glamour, with some hints of something witchy. It stars Anne Hathaway as the eponymous pop star who reignites a psychosexual affair with fashion designer Sam (I May Destroy You’s Michaela Coel) when she seeks a new dress from her for her upcoming tour.

The film also stars Hunter Schafer, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Atheena Frizzell, Sian Clifford, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, and FKA Twigs. The soundtrack features original music by Twigs, Charli XCX, and Jack Antonoff. Lowery also reunites with his Ghost Story and Green Knight cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo (co-DP with Rina Yang) and composer Daniel Hart. A24, in their third collaboration with Lowery, will release Mother Mary in theaters April 2026.
