THEATER CAMP Trailer: Molly Gordon & Nick Lieberman’s Comedy Will Have You Reach for the Stars

As summer is just around the corner, a Sundance hit is making its way to theaters. Theater Camp, co-directed by Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman, draws upon the glorious chaos of the theatre process in the titular camp, which is hopefully less reckless than the one in Wet Hot American Summer. The mockumentary-style film won a Sundance U.S. Jury Award for its packed ensemble which includes Gordon, Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, Jimmy Tatro, Ayo Edibiri, Patti Harrison, Alan Kim, Nathan Lee Graham, Caroline Aaron, and Amy Sedaris. Gordon and Lieberman co-wrote the script alongside Platt and Galvin. The four also serve as producers alongside Will Ferrell. Searchlight Pictures, which bought the comedy at Sundance for $8 million, will roll it out in theaters on July 14.
Here’s an official synopsis:
Tony Award winner Ben Platt and Molly Gordon star in the original comedy THEATER CAMP as Amos and Rebecca-Diane – lifelong best friends and drama instructors at a rundown camp in upstate New York. When clueless tech-bro Troy (Jimmy Tatro) arrives to run the property (into the ground), Amos, Rebecca-Diane, and production manager Glenn (Noah Galvin) band together with the staff and students, staging a masterpiece to keep their beloved summer camp afloat.
