THE LINE Redband Trailer: Alex Wolff Questions His Loyalties in Fraternity Thriller
It has been a long road for Ethan Berger’s directorial debut The Line to hit the big screen. The film, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival where it wowed critics and audiences, struggled to get picked up for a while – until Utopia bought the rights earlier this year. Now the film is set to hit theaters this month, starting in New York on October 18, and will expand nationwide on October 25. It definitely needs to be seen by any college-bound kid or anyone navigating university life.
Co-written by Berger and Alex Russek, the thriller stars Alex Wolff as a scholarship student and loyal fraternity member who is charmed by the promises of high social status and the alumni connections that open doors. When a hazing incident occurs, it puts everything in jeopardy and has him questioning his loyalties. The packed cast also includes Lewis Pullman, Austin Abrams, Halle Baily, Bo Mitchell, John Malkovich, Scoot McNairy, Denise Richards, Will Ropp, Cheri Oteri, and the late Angus Cloud in his final performance.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Alex Wolff stars as Tom, a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background who is charmed by the prestigious KNA fraternity’s promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors. But upon beginning a romance with Annabelle (Halle Bailey), a classmate outside of his social circle, and the manipulative schemes of his fraternity president (Lewis Pullman) unfolding during the hazing of new members, Tom finds himself ensnared in a perilous game of ambition and loyalty.
