NOWHERE Restoration Trailer: Gregg Araki’s L.A. Fever Dream Is Resurrected in 4K
Gregg Araki’s 1997 cult classic Nowhere is the latest Gen X hit to get the 4K restoration treatment. It is an ensemble drama that takes an apocalyptic dive into the lives of Los Angeles-based high schoolers who find themselves in bizarre experiences, ranging from alien abductions, bad acid trips, sexual experiences, and peculiar deaths. The wide cast of actors includes James Duval, Rachel True, Nathan Bexton, Chiara Mastroianni, Debi Mazar, Kathleen Robertson, Christina Applegate, Ryan Phillippe, Heather Graham, and Mena Suvari, with appearances from Denise Richards, Shannen Doherty, Rose McGowan, and John Ritter. Strand Releasing is currently touring the restored (and uncut) film nationwide, starting Friday, October 6.
Here’s the official synopsis:
NOWHERE’s weblike narrative charts a day in the hilarious and tragic life of Dark Smith (James Duval), a gorgeous, alienated 18-year-old obsessed with the End of the World and finding his one true and lasting love. The object of his affection, Mel (Rachel True), feels for him deeply but can’t commit herself to any one person or gender, splitting her time between Dark and her curvaceous, acid-tongued girlfriend, Lucifer (Kathleen Robertson). Dark, meanwhile, becomes enthralled by the beauteous Montgomery (Nathan Bexton), literally a vision to behold beneath the golden California sun.
Nowhere is now playing in select theaters. More information on screenings is available here. See the restoration trailer and poster below.
