HUMANE Trailer: Jay Baruchel Tries to Survive the Night in Caitlin Cronenberg’s Dystopian Satire
The Cronenberg legacy continues!
Caitlin Cronenberg, the daughter of body horror icon David Cronenberg and sister of Infinity Pool and Possessor helmer Brandon Cronenberg, steps behind the camera for her feature debut. Humane is a comedy-thriller that centers on a dysfunctional family living in an environmentally damaged world. It stars Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, Peter Gallagher, and Enrico Colantoni. Cronenberg directs from a script penned by producer Michael Sparaga. Ahead of its April 26 theatrical release and Shudder debut on July 26, a trailer has arrived from IFC Films.
Here’s the official synopsis:
HUMANE takes place over a single day, mere months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population. In a wealthy enclave, a recently retired newsman has invited his grown children to dinner to announce his intentions to enlist in the nation’s new euthanasia program. But when the father’s plan goes horribly awry, tensions flare and chaos erupts among his children.
A Toronto-based photographer and filmmaker, Caitlin Cronenberg also helmed the short films The Endings (based on her photobook) and The Death of David Cronenberg, which starred her father.
