BLITZ Trailer: Saoirse Ronan Stars in Steve McQueen’s WWII Epic

After exploring the lingering effects of World War II in his documentary Occupied City last year, Steve McQueen takes on the subject once again in his war thriller Blitz. The film, which will premiere Closing Night at the New York Film Festival, stars Saoirse Ronan as a London single mother who sends her young son (newcomer Elliott Heffernan) away to safety during the early years of World War II. Harris Dickinson, Stephen Graham, Hayley Squires, Paul Weller, Erin Kellyman, and Kathy Burke also star. Ahead of its release this November, an official trailer has arrived from Apple Original Films.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Sir Steve McQueen’s “Blitz” follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son.
Blitz opens in select theaters November 1 before streaming on Apple TV+ November 22. Check out the trailer and poster below.
