BEAU IS AFRAID Trailer: Joaquin Phoenix Stars In Ari Aster’s Fever Dream

Ari Aster’s newest nightmare from A24 is just around the corner!

A trailer has just been released for his newest undertaking which he at one point described as a “four-hour nightmare comedy.” In Beau Is Afraid, Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix stars as the titular character who begins experiencing very strange phenomena as he prepares to visit his estranged mother. As an official synopsis reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer/director Ari Aster.”

Co-starring alongside Phoenix are Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zoe Lister-Jones, Kylie Rogers, Denis Menochet, Parker Posey, Richard Kind, Armen Nahapetian, and Patti LuPone. In 2011, Aster made a short film that was also titled Beau, which centered on a middle-aged man whose trip to visit his mother is continuously held up by his missing keys and a chain of distressing events.

Aster also produces alongside Lars Knudson and A24. He reteams with his cinematographer Pawel Pogorzelski, editor Lucien Johnson, and his Midsommar composer Bobby Krlic.
