AGGRO DR1FT Trailer: Harmony Korine Returns With A Bold New Cinematic Experience
Could Harmony Korine bring forth a new stage of cinema? The boundary-pushing filmmaker made headlines when he announced plans to form EDGLRD, a Florida-based multimedia collective that produces films, video games, and other new media undertakings that are developed mainly using AI. The company’s first big project that crashed the festival circuit last year (Venice, TIFF, and NYFF) was the director’s newest feature, AGGRO DR1FT. Shot with infrared cameras and animated with the use of thermal imagery & AI generation, it stars Jordi Mollà and Travis Scott in this polarizing, yet visually-astonishing vision of the Miami criminal underworld.
EDGLRD will distribute the film through a series of unconventional screenings at radical venues around the country, beginning with a premiere at the Crazy Girls strip club in Los Angeles featuring DJ sets from Korine on February 7.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Breaking away from the traditional parameters of cinema, AGGRO DR1FT explores the onslaught of digital ephemera and interrogates modern life through the vernacular of video games. Shot entirely through an infrared lens, the film follows a Miami Beach hitman as he embarks on the relentless pursuit of his next target.
