CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2023 LINEUP: Loach, Rohrwacher, Haynes, Glazer, & More Premiering New Films

It’s a new year on the Croisette. Get your tuxes and dresses ready as the lineup for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival has officially been announced! Its 76th edition will take place May 16-27.

With Indiana Jones 5 and Killers of the Flower Moon confirmed for out-of-competition premieres, new highlights in the lineup include Todd Haynes’ May/December, Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest, Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera, Aki Kaurismaki’s Fallen Leaves, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. Also among the lineup are new films from past Palme d’Or winners Nuri Bilge Ceylan (About Dry Grasses), Hirokazu Kore-eda (Monster), Nanni Moretti (The Sun of the Future), Ken Loach (The Oak Room) and Wim Wender (Perfect Days).

Additional selections include Steve McQueen’s documentary Occupied City, Takeshi Kitano’s Kubi, Victor Erice’s long-awaited directorial comeback Cerrar los ojos, Kleber Mendonça Filho’s Pictures of Ghosts, and Warwick Thornton’s The New Boy.

More announcements will soon be made for the Directors Fortnight section lineup, and possibly some additions to the In-Competition slate. Hopefully, some of them will include the highly-anticipated new films from Yorgos Lanthimos, Jia Zhangke, Alexander Payne, Jeff Nichols, Bertrand Bonello, Robin Campillo, or Bruno Dumont, as well as Jean-Luc Godard’s final posthumous work.
