“Naatu Naatu” from RRR to be Performed Live at the Oscars
The Academy Award-nominated song “Naatu Naatu” from S.S. Rajamouli’s international sensation RRR will officially be performed live during the 95th Oscars ceremony by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. The hit song, which won both a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award is composed by M.M. Keeravaani, with lyrics by Chandrabose.
RRR is an action epic that tells the story of two friends, played by Ram Charan & N.T. Rama Rao Jr. on opposite sides of India’s struggle for independence. They are loosely based on early 20th-century freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The film appeared on numerous HtN critics’ Best of 2022 lists and grossed over $160 million worldwide. It will also be re-released in theaters nationwide this Friday from Variance Films.
“Naatu Naatu” will be competing in the Best Original Song Oscar race against “This Is A Life” from Everything Everywhere All At Once, which will be performed by David Byrne, Stephanie Hsu, and Son Lux, “Applause” from Tell It Like A Woman, to be performed by Sofia Carson and Diane Warren at the ceremony, “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick and “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, to be performed by Rihanna.
