THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD Trailer: Sam Green’s Deep Exploration of Time and Aging Arrives in September
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sam Green (The Weather Underground; 32 Sounds) explores the concept of time and aging in his search for The Oldest Person in the World. Having premiered at this year’s Sundance, this documentary centers on Green’s journey to search for those who’ve held the Guinness World Record for being the Oldest Person in the World, a title that has changed hands numerous times as time goes on. After making further stops at SXSW and other documentary circuits, this self-distributed film will open in NYC’s Angelika Film Center on September 10, before expanding to LA and San Francisco on September 18 and nationwide in the weeks to follow. THE OLDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD is a decade-long odyssey chronicling the ever-changing record holders of the title of oldest person alive. As the title inevitably passes from one supercentenarian to the next, director Sam Green traverses the globe to meet each new title holder, his personal fascination with what the title means becoming entangled with events and milestones in his own life. What begins as a portrait of longevity becomes a poignant meditation on the passage of time, the randomness of fate and the joy and profound human experience of being alive.
