WILD HORSE NINE Trailer: John Malkovich & Sam Rockwell Star in Martin McDonagh’s CIA Dark Comedy
After bringing us The Banshees of Inisherin and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Martin McDonagh is back and doing what he does best: pairing together an annoying guy and an annoyed guy under deadly circumstances. Wild Horse Nine stars John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell (in his third collaboration with McDonagh) as two loudmouth CIA agents in 1973 who are assigned to Chile’s Easter Island in the days leading to the 1973 Chilean coup, which marked the beginning of Augusto Pinochet’s military dictatorship.
The amazing cast also includes Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits, Mariana di Girolamo, Ailín Salas, and Parker Posey. Way ahead of its release on November 6, Searchlight Pictures has now released the first trailer for this dark comedy.
As the official synopsis reads:
Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell) are dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief, MJ (Steve Buscemi). Amongst the Island’s iconic statues, and as the longtime partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies, Chris’s newfound bond with a pair of rebellious students (Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas) threatens to send everyone’s trip to this remote paradise sideways.
