THE SILENT TWINS Trailer: The Strange Lives of Twins In Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s Biopic

After making waves with her jaw-dropping mermaid musical The Lure, Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczyńska returns with her English-language debut, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The Silent Twins tells the true story of June and Jennifer Gibbons, two black identical twin sisters from Wales who were both writers and institutionalized for over a decade. Focus Features has set it for a September 16 theatrical release. Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrence star as the titular twins. Smoczyńska reteams with her Lure cinematographer Jakub Kijowski who helped put together the vibrant visual palette. It is an adaptation of Marjorie Wallace’s best-seller.
