CHRONICLES OF A WANDERING SAINT Sneak Peek: See An Exclusive Clip For Independent Spirit Award-Nominated Comedy
One of the best indie gems to look out for this year is Argentinian writer-director Tomás Gómez Bustillo’s Chronicles of a Wandering Saint. This supernatural comedy premiered at SXSW 2023 where it won the Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Award, and has been nominated for 3 Independent Spirit Awards for Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay by Bustillo, and Best Cinematography by Pablo Lozano. Set in the filmmaker’s native Argentina, it follows highly devout Rita Lopez (Mónica Villa) who, in her very competitive nature, decides to stage a miracle that frames her as a modern-day saint. Courtesy of Hope Runs High, who will release the film later this year, we are delighted to show an exclusive clip that shows a first glimpse of this strange little world.
Here’s the official synopsis:
In a tiny Argentinian town, a pious yet competitive woman decides that staging a miracle could be her ticket to sainthood. After discovering a lost statue, she orchestrates a grand reveal that will finally anoint her as the most admired woman in town. But before the unveiling, a jarring event illuminates the hidden magic of her world, forcing her to reevaluate everything she once took for granted.
