How can the critic say it is a staggering achievement to get this movie into multiplexes while also lamenting all the gun violence in the movie? What is so staggering about getting a movie about sex and guns into multiplexes? Spring Breakers is no different than GI Joe. If it was anti child pornography and anti guns, it would not be in the mulitiplexes. Same as Zero Dark Thirty. If it wasn’t military propaganda it would not be in the multiplexes.
Also to say Harmony Korine is an undeniable talent is not true at all. Many have denied his talent(read Janet
Maslin’s perceptive review of Gummo.) Many feel that Spring Breakers=The Emperor’s New Clothes.
