For the home movie diary genre I also highly recommend seeing Georg by Stanton Kaye from 1964 which may be the “original” diary film. It will occasionally will play at Anthology Film Archives.

Did you actually watch the film? His camera isn’t a Bolex, but an actual model and make of a French camera, the Eclair NPR. He says in the narration that he’s just lost his job, and Carson didn’t write the screenplay but transcribed it for publication. Do your homework, dearie.
