I know it is not the point, but why is Baz directing Gatsby? He sucks and is not even American.

A agree with Buschel about adaptations. There are plenty of great movie adaptations of books, but he is talking specifically about masterpiece books. So Mario Puzo, Stephen King, and other very good writers are out. Maybe the only other films besides Mockingbird that equal their master sources are John Ford’s Grapes Of Wrath and John Huston’s Maltese Falcon.
