It’s been a long time coming, but I am happy to report that the long time has shrunk from short time to no more time in between. Today, I will be venturing to my first ever Toronto International Film Festival to experience it with my very own senses! Though that’s very good news, there is some mildly bad news: I haven’t even left Brooklyn yet and I already feel like I’m behind in my posting. For the record, I plan to deliver at least one recap a day, though hopefully there will be more updates along the way with some added goodies.

As a preview, I thought it would be interesting to post my tentative screening schedule, which is something I’ve never done before attending a festival. For the record, something else I’ve never done before is actually stick to a tentative screening schedule. But maybe that will change this time around.

THURSDAY: She, A Chinese; Fish Tank; City of Life And Death

FRIDAY: A Serious Man; A Prophet; White Ribbon; Father of My Children

SATURDAY: The Happiest Girl in the World; Snowblind; Cleanflix or The Topp Twins

SUNDAY: Colony; Collapse; The Disappearance of Alice Creed; Like You Know It All

MONDAY: The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans; Chloe; White Material; I Killed My Mother

TUESDAY: Leaves of Grass

As I said, this lineup won’t stick, but it looks good for now.

Oh yeah, on Saturday night, I’ll be attending the public screening of this thing:

Based on that teaser and what I’ve heard from those who have seen it, Trash Humpers promises to be one of the more talked about films of this year’s festival. Whether that talking is positive or negative depends on the person. But suffice to say, Harmony Korine is back in Nashville with a camcorder, a spray can of Shock Sauce, and a feature film that might have been more aptly titled America’s Scariest Home Videos. For those who don’t know what they’re getting into this thing, here’s my own little test. Watch the following clip. If you think it’s a work of cinematic genius, a modern-day riff on Buster Keaton, then you’ll probably dig Trash Humpers. If not, then maybe not.

Look out, Toronto. Here comes Hammer to Nail!!!
