Let’s Make Films While We Still Can!

I would like to keep the focus on making better films, but nowadays that feels like too big a reach. Everyday the prospect of just getting a film made seems to slip farther and farther away. New York has its cost-of-living problems but it was always the consummate film town, both in terms of viewing and making. We lost New Yorker Films today and two weeks ago we lost our film credits, making it hard to say either statement today.

Tribeca Film Festival asked me post on their blog about the New York State tax credit debacle. Witnessing how our community got caught with our pants down yet again, makes me concerned with all the other big issues coming at us in the days ahead. I started to list them out, but this and petitions won’t be enough to stem the tide. Who is watching the levees? Give it a read and help us figure out what we are going to do to save indie film.
