An American Landis At Walter Reade Tonight (10/15/09)

It’s been two years since John Landis delivered one of the more staggeringly great Q&A’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing (this was after the press/industry screening of Landis’ NYFF doc entry Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project). As one dumbfounded audience member asked him midway through that hilarious rampage, had Landis himself ever considered doing stand-up? Her question made sense. I’m not saying that Landis was on cocaine for that discussion. I have no idea what the man does or doesn’t consume. I just couldn’t help but think that this performance would have made for a brilliant commercial for blow. If this makes absolutely no sense, go to the Walter Reade tonight and then report back to me.

Substances aside, for those of you who have never witnessed the spectacle of a John Landis Q&A, now’s your chance to cross that wildly entertaining task off your to-do list. After tonight’s 8pm screening of An American Werewolf in London (Thursday, October 15th), Landis will appear on stage for a Q&A, at which point everyone in attendance will really start to get their money’s worth. But the movie’s pretty damn good too. If you’re in NYC, this is a must-attend event.

(Programmed by Laura Kern and Gavin Smith, the Scary Movies 3 program runs from October 12th-22nd and features a ton of spooky cinema for the taking. Go here for details.)
