I just got this email from HTN contributor Brandon Harris regarding tonight’s Rooftop Films selection and thought I would share it directly with you, as I haven’t yet had a chance to see Blind Pig Who Wants To Fly but have heard nothing but great things. Be sure to click on the link to link to be taken to Brandon’s Cinema Echo Chamber blog, where he interviews the filmmaker and talks more about the intriguing partnership between Rooftop and International Film Festival Rotterdam. Then visit the Rooftop Films website to buy tickets for tonight and tomorrow night’s screenings:
One of a kind flick guys and gals. Really, you will have never seen anything remotely like this thing, so if you’re around, go check it out. We gave it the FIPRESCI prize in Rotterdam without a single member of the jury being able to articulate exactly what’s going on in the film — its got so much audacious visual energy and inventive, menacing use of infectious Stevie Wonder songs, we were pretty much rendered helpless to its charms.
